gapping plug
i have never gapped a plug before...in case you were wondering.
I have one of those ramp-type circular gapper things. Do I just put in in-between the electrode and ground thingy and turn it until it gets to my proper gap?

yes just go through them w the gappin tool, make sure its not too tight or too free either, if the gap is too big just tap the end of it on a table or whatever to get the gap smaller.
keep your old plugs in case your car doesnt run right

For the best accuracy, ditch the 'ramp type circular' gauge. Go get a circular wire loop ones, that basically look like a coin with staples of various sizes sticking out on the edge. They also have a little tool on them usually to adjust the electrode. Like a buck at an auto parts store.
So take the wire and run it through the gap, should feel a very slight friction if you have it right. If it is too big or too small, use the little tool that is on the gapper.
Basically you take the slot on the tool (looks kinda like an 'F'), and put the electrode into the little slot in the tool... you can then easily bend the electrode down or up easily and accurately.
