Default Fuel pressure gauge placement?

I have an adapter to fit my gauge, but it must be hooked up to the line running from the fuel filter to the fuel rail. The ends of the line are metal, so do I just cut it in the center, or is this a bad idea, I don't know where else to put it. Will it work if I put it on the line running from the FPR to the tank? Im out of ideas...
