Default flywheel bolts backed out.....

and caused my clutch to not be operable (obviously). i thought my clutch was broken or something but tearing it apart revealed 3 loose flywheel bolts, which i could turn by hand and one of them was out pretty far (about 2/5 of the way out). when i put this **** together i used red loctite and torqued them down to factory specs. this time i'm gonna buy all new flywheel bolts and use red loctite. what can i do to make sure they don't back out again? btw: i have a CM flywheel and this is an H22 if that matters.

I used high temp loctite.........and make sure your bolts are clean..........maybe that will help.

be sure to use BrakCleen spray on the bolts, flywheel, and in the flywheel/crank holes. let it dry out and do it again. you want it super clean. then use several drops of Loktite on the bolt threads and torque it down to spec.

after 3 years, i had to take the flywheel off an engine I put together this way. the bolts felt "stiff" all the way out. the loktite was still visible after 3 years. no way it will back out if done right...

good luck

Red loctitie is not high temp....they make a High Temp loctite. The liquid itself is a white paste, same squirt container and all, but just a couple hundred degrees higher I believe.....I'll look for the package. Better sfe than sorry....I am sure the flywheel gets pretty hot. The red loctite may be just fine. Maybe your bolts were greasy causing it to fail.
