explain gear ratios pleeze

well if you want a quick and dirty explanation,
longer gearing = wack acceleration but great top end speeds
shorter gearing = wack top end speeds but great acceleration
there is a middle ground though, if you mix the right gears.
The final drive is like a filter that each gear has to go through, and when you increase or decrease the fd ratio the gearing is increased or decreased as well. A final drive increase will help increase acceleration for all 1-5 gears as a whole.
its like riding a 10speed bike...
when you change to a lower gear its way easier to pedal, which gives you faster acceleration, but when you've maxed out the gear your top end speed is hampered. When you put it in a higher gear it becomes harder to pedal, but as soon as you get going you're haulin *** in top end speeds.
