Default exhaust question

even though i have already bought my exhaust i was just wondering out of curiosity but what is the difference is sizes of exhaust (besides exhaust flow)??? especially like 2.25 up to 3 inch. i already ordered a SRS 2.25 catback for my 2000 civic si (b16a2) thanks

If it was then I wouldn't ask it. I am just curious. I'm not trying to make it a difficult question. Who knows? Cause I don't. It might be the most simple, if not, stupid answer. I might have worded the question wrong...my bad I don't know
