I swear this car hates me.. 2 weeks ago I put in Supertech valvetrain to go with my supposed Exospeed LS909 cams. Driving it last monday and it just died.. found out the timing belt sheered a chunk of teeth off. Finally got the car home, yanked the valve cover and every cam cap is cracked in half on the exhaust side. A few of the intake side were cracked as well.
When I took the cams out for the valvetrain, I found that the previous owner had overtorqued them by a huge amount. One of the bolts sheered off trying to get it out. I put them back in with the proper torque specs but maybe they were fatigued from overtorquing? That plus the increased valvespring pressure could have cracked them and then caused the cam to lift and loosen enough to let the belt slip.. sound like a good theory?
Anyone know what could cause these caps to all fail in the same spot?

thats some serious damage.
the only way they would crack like that is if the piston helped the valves close
. in turn pushing up on the lifters which pushes the cam up and cracks the caps.
if your timing belt sheered some teeth then chances are the valves are bent and thats what cause the damage.
