Engine shutting off
Ok I was driving to a friends house last night, and when I reached a light, I noticed that my idel was dropping down to 300 and fluctuating. I drove on some more till I got my friends apt. complex, and when I tried to go slowly over the first speedbump, my car shut off. I turned it on and it shut off when I went over the next speed bump. Finally, I pulled into a space and the car shut off again. I was thinking one of my spark plug wires came loose. I opened my hood and pushed on all the plug wire connections, and they all felt tight. I turned my car back on and it started and idled fine. I drove to get some viet food which is pretty far away, and it drove fine. Anyone have any idea what it could have been? MAP sensor dirty? Plugs? Wires?
I just took care of a very similiar problem. It was the distributor, take off the cap and inspect the internals for any visual problems, also listen to it while the motor is running.
The shaft inside the distributor was binding I could hear a grinding sound as it spun. I believe the o-ring oil seal failed because oil was leaking out the hole where the dizzy connected to the engine.

hope this helps
