i finished building this h22a with high compression pistons,sleeved block.im close to 11.5:1 or so.my question is once i have ran my engine for a while,shut it off,then start it up again,it knocks on the initial start up..Also,sometimes my rpms will really get low when i let off the gas and take it out of gear.if i try to give it gas when the rpms are really low like at 400 pms or so im guessing,it will also knock.i didnt get this problem before i got the s100 hondata system.ever since,it started happening.i got the hondata system when i had the old engine in,but i didnt drive it around much to really get it to do the same thing its doing now.i know my tps is adjusted right.im using the hondata on a p28.Anyone???

 

Could be a rod knock or a slight piston slap. Are you using forged pistons?

 

definately sounds like slap....what kind of P-W clearences are u using on those pistons?

 

im not talkin about a knocking noise,im talkin about pinging,detonation,engine knock.The engine sounds fine,just when i crank it after it has been runnin for a while,it will ping once,then its fine.

your clearances could be out of spec.
