Default Engine oil Q?

Question for all you engine gurus. I've been using Mobil1 5W30 in my stock B16A and I am burning oil. Thinking of switching oil but should I stick with Mobil1 10W30, or go to Castrol GTX 5W30? Is it possible to switch back to conventional oil after synthetic. FYI, I've been using Castrol for the first 100,000 km before I switched to synthetic 37,000 km ago. Thanks in advance.

Yes you can switch back without any adverse affects. Also, B-series engines like to burn Mobil-1 oil for some odd reason.

you can switch back and forth b/w dino and syn. try castrol high mileage 10w-30. its only 50-75 cents more a quart than regular gtx and it has a thicker viscosity than castrol gtx so it may help a little with the oil burning issue.

Really? Is this a known fact? I just thought VTEC engines (H22s in particular) burn oil, regardless of brand. Thanks for the info guys.

I heard on here a couple months ago someone with the same problem and they switched to Castrol Syntec and it doesnt burn oil anymore. You might want to try that.
