Default Engine Care.. Need advice...

I've had my civic for 4 months now, I taken it in for an oil change once (Castrol Syntec 5w-30). I'm almost a freak about oil, I check it at least twice a week. Anyway, as I'm going through these posts, I read some things refering to how a car was driven, I was kinda curious if anyone could elaborate for me. I want to keep my investment going as long as I can. I just got an AEM short ram and I've been running the engine through it's paces. Never redline or anything.... I just want to know about daily driving car care. I wanna have fun, I just don't want the fun to cost me $$$

oil is the key to long living engines. if you drive it hard (dog) on it change the synthetic oil every 3000 miles. i know you can push to 5000miles but it is best at every 3000 miles. make sure you pick up a good oil filter. not fram please. pick up something like bosch, mobil 1, hamp, k&n, or even oem.
