interesting
seems like the electric motor is designed to turn the crank pully, to add power

two questions
can the crank pully withstand that type of force?
seems like all the torque generated by the electric motor would be exerted on the key wedge in the crank pulley

also
what do you do about an alternator?

Only it's a lot more... um... homemade.

A motor & a generator are really the same thing, if you can control it properly. The black box in the trunk should be more than 'just' a battery. So the thing works as a motor for a few seconds, helping out the engine & depleting it's own special battery/capacitor. Then it works as a generator to charge itself back up for the next stoplight drag...

I wonder if it makes enough power to make up for it's added weight??
