electrical problems. relay cutting on and off
well this is not my problem but it is a friends. he has an inline walbro fuel pump. at low rpms like at idle or when accelerating from first or second you can hear the walbro inline whine cut on and off and you can simotaneously hear the main relay clicking on and off, any ideas, its a b16 in crx converted to obd1. can the computer sense that the car is running too rich and cut of the fuel pumps?
hello....dont tell me none of you are going to reply..or i have i stumped the o so intelligent honda-techers? i think ill make this a challenge to you guys. even though i dont think youll answer now. it just pisses me off when you got posts like "where to buy a b16" and "swap questions" goto the hybrid section or uses the frickin searh function.WTF heres a link http://www.google.com why do you think it is there? . i just dont understand. this is honda- tech right. and i am in the tech section right?

I don't think it can do that. If the O2 sensor reads low (rich), it'll shorten the pulse width for the injectors. It won't shut off the pump. If the pump itself has some kind of overpressure protection (I doubt it), it wouldn't be able to open the main relay.
Check the circuit powering the main relay. Sounds like flaky wiring to me.
If the ECM doesn't see the tach signal from the ignition, it'll shut off the fuel pump. Check that circuit from the ignition to the ECM. If this was it I think it also would quit firing the injectors. It does this at idle? Do you continue to hear the injectors click while the fuel pump interrupts?
