Default ECU Chips

i just picked up a socketed p28 for my coupe, was also given four chips with it. one chip is a JUN chip, one spoon sports, one XS enginering and the other a mugen program. was wondering what exactly these chips would do performance wise in a d15b VTEC. are they worth trying?

dropping in a chip with unknown maps on it is sort of like playing the lotto.
But at best case it will help only a little, worst case poor mpg and predet all over the place. (see engine death)

Leave the ECU in it's stock form until you can have a chip made that's made for your setup.

tell you the truth...those 'performance' chips don't do anything besides mess with your fuel/maps and raise/lower your vtec point.

I got some from Adrian @ hyperducktuning a while ago to experiment and see what they do on my old d16z6. We installed them and the car would run a bit rich due to the Air/Fuel ration that was set and it removed my redline fuel cut and raised my vtec.

The ECU chips will do more benefit on a 'built' engine...but the best would be to have somebody actually tune your car then just run a 'guestimated' ecu chip

Find someone in your area that chips ecu's and see if they can read the chip. Then you can find out which will help your performance or hurt your engine.

PRetty much most ebay chips either add or lessen fuel through the maps.
Turbo chip adds lots of fuel
Allmotor chip leans out the maps
NOS will lean it until nitrous is ** supposed ** to engage then rich it up

As a kid i played with fire even though my mother told me its dangerous.
So i chipped my ecu.
And burnt the house down afterwards.
