Default Distributor Rotor

Hi Honda Lovers,
I have a quick question regarding Distributor Rotor. I have a 2002 HONDA CIVIC EX COUPE, and I am wondering if you guys know for sure that if there is Distributor Rotor on this model? I have heard mix info regarding if this part exist or not on the 2002 Civic, so it would be really helpful to hear from some of you experts. If there is a Distributor, does the Distributor Rotor need to be replaced, when? Is it part of a maintenance or is it usually done separately depending on the M.I.L. Light Indication.

Why would some cars not have Distributor Rotor? Is the main function to clear most competition induction systems? What does that actually mean?

Your input is much appreciated!
Sincerely,
-Lawrence

yeah, if you have DIS then you have individual coil packs per cylinder.

How do I know if 2002 Civic EX has DIS or not? DIS stands for Distributorless Ignition System right? Is it a more advanced system?
I know that Distributor Rotor needs to be replaced, but does Coil Packs need to be replaced? Or that's NOT a maintenance item?
Also wondering if a car has Distributor Rotor, how to determine when it needs to be replaced?

Thanks guys for your response

i'm not sure about the new civics. i'm not up on my D/K series info. but if you see a module on top of your spark plug holes, then yes, you have DIS (distributorless ignition system).

is it more advanced? yes. it does offer more efficiency and is much "neater". i don't think the coil packs need replacing, they are a wear item, but should last the life of the automobile; unless the honda service manual says otherwise.

as for caps and rotors, i change mine every other oil change. but then again, i'm meticulous. new cap, new plugs (twice a year -- depending on wear), new rotor, new rotor screw (they tend to weld themselves into place after a while).

if you have a DIS like in that pic, then no, you dont need to replace the coil packs when you do maintenance. you just replace them if they go bad, but they should last a really long time.
