Default Distributor question


What does this do??? Looks like a resistor...car runs fine I知 having trouble getting my ignition timing spot on and I知 wondering if this has something to do with it.

Looks like a capacitor(condenser), typically used for RF reduction on modern-ish cars(cars from the 80s-early 2000s with electronic ignitions systems) and used for spark control on older cars with points in the distributor.

It will not affect your ability to time the vehicle.(most likely it isn't even needed for your vehicle, since it isnt even connected)
