Different type of Mini-me setup's

What do you guys think would be the best bet for my dx crx. Like what type of head I should use and what parts will I need to do it. I kinda want to stay away from vtec because of the money I would have to drop in it. Basically for now I want a mid 14 sec car. I dont know if I should go with zc or d series. Any ideas will be of great help
