one of the cam journals on my gsr had has a scratch/ lip that i can feel with my finger, it does not go all the way around onto the cap or throughout the whole journal is there any way to fix this besides having a line bore done>?
any advise is greatly appreciated

 

There was a thread on here few yrs ago about same thing but much worse, he found a guy from canada (I THINK) that puts a bearing in cam journal to save the head. I wanna say it was in the auto x thread forum.

Line honeing will NOT work as you just make the cam sloppy in the journal, the cam cap will only tighten down so far, if you can feel it with finger it is at least .05 which is way to much tolorance in a cam IMO.

 

blah, knock that lip down with a white or grey scotchbrite.
