Default CV joint issue

I am doing a swap at a friends house and everything was pretty much finished up except putting the suspension back on. Now my friends dad decided to attempt to help me while i wasnt there and he tightened the axle hub nut completely while the upper balljoint was not connected. This caused the inner CV joint (closest to tranny on passenger side) to pull out and the boot is extended but hasnt ripped or anything. Now I am figuring my only hope is to pull the axle out, open up the boot and put the cv joint back together but im wondering if there is anyway I can pop it back in without taking it off the car?

So basically has anyone experienced this issue before and is it possible to maybe turn the hub while pushing in and maybe the spider will line up with the axle and go back in? I really just wanna avoid having to remove the boot clamp and get a rebuild kit just to do this.

Try it & see if you can get the spider into the inner driver. If you can't get it, you haven't lost much.

If you have to open the boot, you can use a pair of nylon wire ties as a clamp.
