crx cam timing
I bought a crx DX that didn't run. Checked the cam, and it was off by quite a bit. The timing belt was very loose, and i figure that the belt tensioner broke, and then it slipped a few teethf, and thus it isn't running. Has anybody run into this issue? Also, I checked the compression and it was something like, 36, 26, 9, 6, from distributor side, to the cam side. Somebody told me that if the timing is off, the compression will be low, but evenly low accross all 4 cylinders. I also heard from one person that they can all be different.
Any thoughts?

Well...if the timing belt tensioner did break, the engine most likely bent some valves, which could cause those horrible compression numbers. If the timing is off,the compression would be low on all cylinders, but it will most likely be pretty even, unless one of the cylinders had bad rings etc..
See it was off by like 3 teeth, so i dunno if that would mess up the valves or not, but, i know that they tried to start it like a million times, and most likely washed the cylinders. I guess I just have to get the belt back on, and see what's up, or pull the head off to check the valves. Is there any other way to check the valves other then pulling the head?
