cruise control wont work
first of all
IT IS NOT A FUSE
sorry i just want to get that out of the way.
also please no "rip that out" or "cruise is for pussies" posts... i have a 6 hour drive to see my gf and would like to have this functioning to make the trips easier.
anyways, i picked up this car (96 gsr SE) a little while ago w the cruise control not working bc the wires in the steering wheel were cut and im assuming it was to use an aftermarket wheel. anyways that has all been repaired. i have checked the clutch switch, brake switch, main switch, all fuses, and the actuator. i took the cruise computer off and tested each wire at the cruise control computer plug and it appears to be getting the proper signals from each as per the helms. im at a total loss right now. im curious if anyone has come across similar issues or not. im aware most people have just abandoned the cruise system when its gone especially since tegs are notorious for cruise issues, but i need to get this functional again. the srs reel is in proper working order and the horn does work as well. no check engine light either and the speedo is working properly so i know there is no issue w the vss... any ideas???

Once my cruise control broke and i checked everything electrical and it all showed up good. The problem was one of the lines from the cruise control assembly in the engine bay broke from the little "canister" that it it connected to. Without that line there would be no air pressure and the cruise would not work. Check that, maybe thats the problem.

Either the "Cruise Control Unit" or the "Cruise Control Actuator" is toast, if all the wiring is good it only leaves the above two units as the possible problem.94
which is what im thinking and ive tested the actuator by manually using voltage to signal it so i THINK its the cruise ecu but ive never heard of one burning out??
well the issue was found... there are 2 brake switches built into the pedal... the one strictly for the cc ecu had a break in the wire somewhere bc there was not continuity to the cc ecu... once i ran another line that solved that. also the clutch switch had to be adjusted. once that was all done the voltages and such all checked out but it was still not working.
in the end i found that the actual plug that went into the cc ecu had a bad pin in it that had been damaged by someone before i got the car. fixed the pin, then had to readjust the actuator cable and now it works like a charm.
