Crane Cams quality?
I’m seeking information from anyone who has used the Crane Cams for the Honda B16A or B18C engines – part # 270-253-0014; V-tech, race-only cams.
I purchased these camshafts & upon receipt, the quality of the cams – in my opinion – seems to be questionable.
1) The finish on the cams is very rough.
2) The bearing journals have pits in them or small dark spots in the bearing surface, which leads me to believe that there are flaws in the cam billet.
3) To my surprise, when I received the package, one of the camshafts was broken… I do not know at what point it got broken – whether it was shipped like that or during the shipping itself.
At this point I am very concerned about installing these cams in my freshly built race engine. If any of those cams fail, it could take the rest of the engine with it.
So, if there is anyone out there using these cams – or has used these cams – please share your experience.
