condenser fan?
i am going to be doing an engine swap soon and in the process i will be removing the air conditioning system. i was wondering if i still need to keep the condensor fan installed because i am not sure if this is part of the engine cooling system. (i would still keep the radiator fan obviously). if its not needed there's no reason to keep it
thankyou!

keebler,
the condenser fan is totally separate from the radiator fan...you won't need it.
some tech notes:
the condenser fan comes on when the refrigerant through the condenser coils is a certain temperature. you'll notice that the fan comes on intermittently when you are running your a/c and come to a stop. in order to reject the heat that was pulled from your car cabin to the refrigerant, the fan will blow outside air over the condenser coils. however, while driving, the fan almost never comes on because of the "free" airflow over the condenser when you're driving.
in a nutshell, it's not necessary.
if you still need a second, third, etc. opinion, best thing is to check with your local honda dealer and talk to the mechanic.

i heard some people were keeping them and rewiring them to augment the factory fan. might be a good idea with turbo, vtec and things like that.
Bye, bye condenor, compressor, evaporator, and all the hard lines.
