Default Code for OEM CD Player

I just recently smashed up my 2001 Civic, and during the repair, they had to disconnect the battery. Because of this, the security feature on the OEM CD player is asking for a code before it can work. Being the uncareful idiot that I am, I lost the code that was given to me by the dealership. And because my car was delievered from another dealership, they do not have a record of my code either.

Does anybody know if there is a universal code, or anything like that out there? Or know how to get it working some other way?

You might have to call Honda give VIN info and proof the car is yours. All Hondas have different random codes for the radios. I used to work at a Honda dealership. They are usually in the ashtray when the cars are new.

You actually have to have the serial # on the back of the radio in order for them to give it to you. If you want you can email me directly and I can get it for you: Sergio_Mercado@ahm.honda.com
P.S...Yes, I work for Honda.

I also saw that it MIGHT be on the backside of the glovebox. or on the bottom of the ashtray. It all depends on where the dealer put it. With vin you need to still pull the radio to get the serial #

The code can sometimes be in the trunk of the car on a sticker.

The place I have seen the code on my last two cars (94 Lude, 95 GSR) is on the Fuse Box under the hood. Facing the engine, on the left side up by the firewall, pop off the fusebox cover. Look under it. There should be the 5 digit (I think it's 5) code there for ya.

GLuck!

The 01 civics can display the serial number on the face by pushing two of the buttons on the front- I don't know which ones -service writers usually do it. I hate radio codes- who would want to steal the POS anyhow?
