Clutch and Tranny Help!!!
Hey all. Well, me and some buddies are attempting a clutch install on my 89 si hatchback. I've got an exedy oem 90+ clutch kit and an ACT prolite flywheel. We got the tranny off and the clutch on. We ran into problems when trying to put the tranny back on. The input shaft would line up, but would not want to go all the way back in. So after struggling to try to get it on for about 6 hours. I decided to drop the tranny completely again and ee if everything was still lined up. After taking off the pressure plate, i looked at the clutch disk, and the spline threads are kinda beat up on the side that the input shaft must first enter. So i took the disk off and with the tranny off, i reversed the disk and tried to put it on and it would only go on up to the side with the messed up threads.
My question is, is it possible for me to use the old clutch disk with the new pressure plate? It's pretty worn, but i think it will do the job until i can get another clutch disk. And also, where would i find the best deal on another disk? All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Unlucky you, I think I just tossed a perfectly good clutch that would work on your car.
Do you have a clutch alignment tool? Are you using the damn thing?
If you're using the correct tool, you need to get the transmission close to the clutch and rotate the crankshaft pulley with a ratchet. At the cranshaft turns, push on the transmission until it seats against the block. BAM! You're there.

Yea i got the tool, the problem is that the tool wont go into the splines on the new clutch disk cus they're too messed up. The tool goes into the old clutch disk just fine. I think i'm gonna try to file down the splines on the new disk where they're messed up and see if it works. Thanks.
