Default Clutch Gripping Point

Guys, I just got a XTD Stage I clutch and installed it. Please remember, this is my first manual transmission car so I'm not too familiar with this. After installing the clutch, the clutch gripping point is still at the top. It's the same as it was on my last clutch, only difference is that it doesn't slip anymore. Once in a while, the gripping point is on the bottom ( almost always when reversing and sometimes when going forward ). Even if the gripping point is at the bottom once in a while, it slips all the way until it gets to the top. Is there something wrong with my transmission?

But would it still feel that way even if I'm not driving hard? Someone on the boards suggested that I bleed the clutch.
