ok i took apart my car and now that its back together im having trouble starting it because of the battery. the battery is located in the trunk by the way. i cant start my car, but when i jump start it, it does well. the car stays on even while im driving. i have both grounds (the one on the valve cover and the starter) connected to the engine. now i dont think its the alternator only because the car does not die when i drive it. OR AM I WRONG? the battery is still good because i bought a new one. COULD ANYBODY GIVE ME ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS?

oh ya, sometimes it will just click when i try to start it, and other times it will turn over. a couple of times i got it to start without jump starting it.

dont know why it jumpstarts then tho.

um..check your grounds again, the engine and tranny ground.

 

The wire going to the starter isn't a ground. Make sure you have a ground going from the body to the trans. (The one that used to be your neg. battery cable.)

 

ok check this out....i checked the grounds and they were ok. now i jumpstarted the engine again and then i let it run for a while and i tried to start it again...no dice. i took the battery and put it in another car and found that it was completely dead. now im thinking its the alternator, but it doesnt shut off while im driving. could it still be that?
