car runs like crap need help

well i got it runnin and i go down the road and get to like 4000 and it back fires and skips and then when u cut it off the motor tries to run backwards and smoke comes out of it

sounds like your timing is way off. check your timing.

what excatly do you mean the motor tries to spin backwards?

i dont exactly know it just makes a noise when you cut it off and it blows smoke out of the throttle body
