i was driving last night when all of a sudden my speedo needle drops to 0 and my throttle doesnt respond. then it jumps back up to regular speed. then it drops again, i hard rumbling noise, and then i see orange sparks flying out of the rear. i had enough momentum to pull over to the side and sit. car wont start. i sit for a while waiting for the tow truck and then my radio dims and dies.
problem is?:

ignitor (replaced with crappy autozone one over the summer)
coil (replaced with crappy autozone one 8 months ago)
cap (replaced)
rotor (still old)
whole distributor
alternator (original on b16 motor)
battery (diehard, dont know age)

any help would greatly be appreciated

 

seems like there's no circulation. need new distributor? could be. new sparkplugs and wires? could be. from your list it seems like they were never meant to be driven more than 8 months. just my 02 cents.
