Default can I turn on VTEC manually?

Can I manually turn on VTEC without a VAFC or ECM mod?

Yes. It's just 12V going to a solenoid. But I really doubt you want to do this manually...

Your vtec is configured to turn on at the most efficient point. Anywhere else and you would lose performance, gas efficiency, etc.... Unless you are well modified. And even then get a vtec controller and adjust it.

Some guys have to do that with their minime swaps, so they wire up a button that turns on VTEC. DOn't do it, it's ghetto if you have to to save $$$ and gay if you think it will sound cool.

Does a VAFC activate VTEC or does it get the ECU to activate VTEC. What I'm asking is "does the computer make any adjustments to settings (Injector duty cycle) to allow for VTEC".
Could VTEC be triggered by, say, a feed from a shift light????? Or would the computer need to know. I have no VTEC due to no speedo signal and was wondering if I could use a shift light tacho to actuate the VTEC soleniod as oppposed to the big *** light????

the fuel mapping stays the same (I THINK) if your vtec is working or not.

well.. if its not, then the ECU is in limp mode.. and fuel gets dumped, hence different maps. (I think) heh.

Cool, thanks KAMIN.....does anyone KNOW.
Has anyone tried the shift light theory? Although I suppose if I'd have done the conversion properly the computer would work as designed

I want to temporary lower the vtec switch over point, say for one day. then, restore it to normal. I wanted to get a vafc, but I am wondering is there any other method for adjecting the vtec without a vafc.

where is the solenoid that you are talking about? is that the ecm in front of passager sit?

Soleniod is located next to the dizzy. Has a single feed wire going to it.

Computer doesn't go into limp without VTEC it just doesn't go

So, is the fuel map the same with or without VTEC???????

I think the switch idea might be kind of fun for a day or so. install a little switch on your shift **** and anytime you want some extra power, just hit a little red button.
