A/c compressor switching on and off

what does it mean when you have your A/c on, the compressor switches on and off and so-forth every 5 seconds??

It's normal dude, don't sweat it. That's what they do.

Usually means you're getting low on freon or r134 (whichever type you use). If ac not as cold as it used to be, get it recharged. If cold enough now, let it alone.
