its not an oil pressure switch , its a sensor
the solenoid is the vtec switch
my stock ecu doesnt need oil pressure sensor to switch my vtec on ... my ecu will turn the solenoid on when it simply reaches 5500RPM!

i don't know if I need to lend my weight to this argumnet. But certain JDM motors do not have the VTM sensor. Vtec Oil-Pressure Sensor. The sensor's purpose is to not allow vtec to engage without appropriate oil pressure.
MMuller is saying that it is the OBD2 motors that don't have the sensor. I'm willing to believe him. I have seen JDM motors with the sensor and without. It seems reasonable if it's a generational thing.

sensor operated over a wide range(ex: map)
switch only has 2 on/off, the vtec oil pressure switch doesnt measure how much pressure there is; only if there is or not. just like the oil pressure switch on the block and ks

I can tell you for a fact that the OBD2 B18CR's do not have a vtec oil pressure sensor. I had to use the one from my D16Z6 for my ECU, and it is currently hanging right next to my vtec solenoid, not plugged into anything. Made me kinda worried first time I noticed it, but since I'm using the USDM ecu which looks for it, the guys who did my swap just left it hanging in there.
96 and up jdm h22a don't have v-tec oil pressure swich. My 96 jdm h22a came whit no oil pressure swich but my 94 jdm p13 need that swich to engage vtec.
I was tinking that jdm 5th gen prelude have a stock v-tec controler in option.

Huh??? What?? English do you speak it? Seriously?
And, if JDM cars don't have an "oil pressure switch", what exactly activates the engagement of the VTEC mechanisms locking pins. Magic? Hhmmm?</TD></TR></TABLE>
Ya that is english I am speaking....VTEC is activated off a RPM signal....and that signal activates the solinoid which locks force oil to lock the rocker pins which in turn hits the VTEC lobes causing the VTEC effect....learn something before you go and try to start telling people how things work...(wheres that damn hammer when I need it)

Doesn't come with oil pressure sensor. There's no connector for it in the harness aswell. I guess the ECU assumes there's oil pressure and activates VTEC.
I have no engine codes either. "]https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/honda-tech.com-vbulletin/920x2000/screenshot_20251015_000528_chrome_743a7a09a31d24fd 15e19120ce54134c2f46009b.jpg[/img]
