The ITR transmission has dual cone synchros. So ITR transmissions shift better and experience a MUCH lower frequency of synchro failure than B16A transmissions. I should also note that the GSR transmission also has dual cone synchros. So if you want something with taller gears than the ITR transmission, this is a good choice.</TD></TR></TABLE>
My b16a2 transmission I got with the swap has a worn out 2nd -> 3rd synchro. I was thinking of swapping in a 4.7 fd and an LS 5th gear since I do a lot of highway driving.
When I do this (if it is a good idea) could I use the ITR dual cone synchros? Would I need to replace the main shaft to use those synchros? And if I replaced the mainshaft would I need to use the ITR gears, or can I reuse my perfectly good b16a2 gears?
Thanks guys.

Chances are it would be cheaper to buy a whole used ITR transmission than it would to buy gears. I would look into this.

that is what I have been thinking when I look at the price of all of the stuff individually, but I really want to take mine apart for some reason...
$800 (lsd) + $300 for synchros versus maybe, $1500 for a new transmission that might be broken as well. Hard decision.
