belt tensioner bolt...help!
what happens when the belt tensioner bolt is loosened too far? does anything fall out of place or position? Just seems hard to get the timing belt tightened up. Think i loosened it too far and something isnt working right
When I changed the timing belt on my GSR I took the tensioner off altogether. There wasn't anything that falls apart until you back that bolt all the way out. Is it much different on an EK? (Or whatever you have?)
nope same engine as you. When the tensioner mounts on the block itself....is there a certain way or keyway for the tensioner to line up? cant seem to get the belt tight enough
Tensioner is #14, it looks like #15 is the pin that it pivots on.

It's bracket pivots at the right side, & the spring is attached at the left. The bolt goes thru the middle of the pulley. Maybe your spring is weak or disconnected? I don't remember anything special, it only fit together one way.
You might have to take off the lower cover in order to see what's wrong. Unfortunately, you have to take off the crank pulley, because one of the cover bolts is underneath.

If you take off the lower cover bolts that you can get, maybe the cover will flex enough to see what's up. Be careful you don't break it...
The hole on the right side of the tensioner bracket just sits on that pivot pin. There's no nut or anything holding it. That's probably why you aren't supposed to back the bolt out too much. Maybe you can set it back in place by reaching in the top of the lower cover?? It won't be real easy.
