Default Basic ECU/wiring/sodering questions

How do I hook up my egr valve lift sensor for my egr valve. Its on a hf motor that i swapped in a 90 std with the std harness? It has 3 wires coming out of the plug?

No clue what you're asking about in the first sentence, try again?

As far as the best way to solder... you should join the wire with a mechanical connection, and let the solder merely be the electrical connection. Either crimping or twisting the wires together before flowing with solder is ideal.

i think he might be talking about splicing into a ecu wire... maybe...

if that's the case, soldering is the way to go. though time consuming, it's a dependable connection that you won't have to worry about coming loose down the road.

* i would just strip the wire you want to splice into.
* twirl the stripped end of a wire you want to attach around the exposed ecu wire you just stripped.
* then solder the jonx in there
* after you can elec. tape around it or heat shrink (to prevent the soldered wires from touching another wire or grounded surface.

hope that helps... just my $0.02 though...
if you're lazy and don't care about driving yourself crazy later on trying to figure out which wire came loose when troubleshooting something that doesn't work anymore... in that case, just twist and cap

Ok im let me explain better im hooking up a egr valve for a HF crx. the egr valve has a plug that connects to it with 3 wires. The ecu pinout chart says it is A10. How do i hook up the 3 wire plug into 1 pin?

5v referrence power pin ???, sensor ground pin ???, sensor return pin A10.

I don't have my OBD0 literature on me right now, but the ref voltage supply and the sensor ground would be the same as the TPS circuit.

So you need the circuit drawing for the whole sensor circuit, not just the one wire that goes to the ECU. Most likely one's power (from main relay?) & one's ground.

I doubt an engine sensor, EGR lift sensor in this case, gets battery voltage as it's referrence voltage. Seeing as how it is not #1 industry standard 5 volt referrence and #2 not a steady, calibrated voltage but fluctuates from 12-14 volts depending on engine speed, I'd bet me right nut it's NOT getting battery voltage.

LEGUTKI needs the real wiring drawing.

ok i got my wiring drawing it looks like its 5v. now what? gound 1 plug, wire 1 into ecu and then how to i get 5v of power?

BTW this is cool im learning

How does it get that power originally? Isn't there another ECU pin that supplies the 5v? The ECU that you're using probably supplies regulated +5v to a couple other sensors too, like maybe TPS & MAP? I have to guess since I don't have wiring drawings for either your donor or recipient cars...
