b20 vtec question....please help.

Default b20 vtec question....please help.

to put a vtec head on the b20 block....should u have to notch the valve pockets deeper or r they ok?????

whoever is putting the motor together, should be "claying" the valve to piston distance. What is done is inserting small pieces of clay(made for this purpose- I believe) in the valve pockets on the piston, then installing the head to proper specs. Crank the motor over by turning the bolt on the crank. Take the head back off and measure how thick the clay is. If you're thinking of, at some point, running hotter(higher lift and duration) cams, this is a must!

no the valve relifes cutts are not needed. the only problem is you can advance the cam timing by 4 degrees.
