Default B16 help, is my oil pump bad?

Just finished a b16a swap in a 1990 crx si, I have been letting it run, and I have only driven it around the neighborhood once, it has no tags yet.
First off, V-tec wont kick in, I get a code 22- v-tec oil pressure switch. Car has oil, wireing is correct. I assume the switch is good.
This weekend I was messing with the car, now when you start it the oil light comes on and it stays on, the car idles around 6-800 rpm, I rev it up a little to 1-2,000 and the light goes away, if I let the car idle the oil light comes on. What would be the best way to test the motor? Would a oil pressure gauge help?

get an oilpressure gague asap, and it wouldnt hurt to turn up your idle. Check you oil pan and make sure its not dented.
