Default B series vtec distributor with d series internals... help!

I've tried to search this, and I can't find anything... So if anyone can give me insight... please help.

B series vtec distributor with d series internals...

Has anyone done this? I heard about this, and I guess it works... So with out REALLY looking in to it... I tried it.

Do you need the b series shaft to make it work successfully? I ask this because of the problems I'm having runnig it. It just doesn't seen to want to idle, and even where the wires on to the cap go have changed with the d seriers shaft...

Thats a tough question to answer. If using OBD0 its yes or no depending if using a D series DPFI distributor then its no if its a MPFI its yes. If its OBD1 everything is the same OBD2 into OBD1 you may have issues converting but with some wiring swaps will work. Fire location on the cap is the same but some D series show #1 in an odd place. Double check everything it will work.

That's my thing... I have double checked... and triple, you get the idea...

I had to unbolt the distributor, and fully rotated the distributor towars me (for the life of me, I can't remember which way is advance and which is retart right now lol), and it ran a little better, still sounds like it's misfiring...

It's OBD1, I'm not getting a tach signal when it tried to idle, everything is hooked up, I even changed the ignitor just for hell of it... I'm running out of ideas...

Well, it turns out that you do need the b series shaft. I put a b16a distibutor in, and she pur like a pissed off kitten...

So if anyone has this issue in the future, you can now search it...

Huh thats a new one on me. Never had to rebuild an OBD1 diz but with OBD0 everything swaped over with no problems including the shafts. OBD0 B16 Diz use to be hard to come by and wasn't going to pay 150.00 for a used one just cause of a locked up shaft bearing
