B series S13?
I am considering taking up this project..
Why?
Well. the 180sx Chassis...

...is a very light chassis with a factory 4.03 rear end, with options to go much tighter. overall weight with an Ls/vtec should be around or less than the weight of an EX 5th civic. essentially making it a RWD Civic. I cant see why the factory Ka24de Tranny would'nt work with an adaptor plate.
I am well aware of the other Nissan 4 cylinders, the stock Ka24de, the ca18det and the sr20det. but besides them being heavier, I am just not a fan of them. an Ls/vtec with a 50 trim t3/t4 turbo should be pretty fun and handle well on a road course. has this ever been done before? and what potential problems would you expect?

Yeah but if I do this Im sure you will be making the wiring harness

An S13 with an SR20DET swap isnt all that heavy. Probably similar to a DC2. I think its actually lighter with an SR than the KA due to the aluminum block. I think your idea is absurd personally lol. The SR block can handle ~350-400whp daily and still be damn reliable whereas hondas mostly stick to ~300whp. If you want an S13 I think you just stick with the good ol SR. But a B series swap in there would be quite interesting even though youd be flamed like hell by the Nissan crowd.
If I were to ever leave hondas, Im going to a 240 or an MR2 turbo

I personally think it is a waste of time and money, but it is obviously possible. One thing to keep in mind is that the engines for that car spin clockwise, where as the B is opposite, so unless you like having 5 reverse gears, that will need to be overcome. Also, the mounts for the B are set up for transverse mounting, so that should be tricky.
It would be a neat set up for sure, but nowhere near cost effective with all the hurdles you will face.
