B-Series Block Build-up (How To Article):
How long did it take you to do the build?
A mechanic of mine estimated around 10-15 hours of work (based on dealership labor rate). I believe it will take less, and most of the time being consumed by the plastigauging.
Great build btw.

plastigauging does take about a hour and some to do just because its a repeative process of torquing bolts down, taking it all apart again then bolting it back down again, etc.. I'd say if you have all the neccessary parts and tools sitting right with you at the time of the build, you could finish the block only in 5-6 hrs if not quickers... I've done a few blocks so it doesn't take me too long to put one together if the motors already outta the car of course...
I actually have a race only block that I should have complete by early December that'll be pretty sick to look at... That one will be a even higher compression bigger displacement motor though I won't be doing a write up on that one... will show pictures though for drooling purposes only..haha

dude i dont want to sound cocky cause i am not!!but who in the hell uses plastigauge to build a motor!! invest in some mics, calipers and a dial bore gauge and do it right. i would never post pics of myself building a motor and using plastigauge for measurements. that was good for the 70's and 80's.

I was yearning for more pics, but that's because I learn by seeing. So few know the importance of plastigage. I hope this gets archived so I can find it when I finally decide to undertake a block buildup. Thanks for the info!
