Default Auto transmission care

I thought I might post this here since it seems to apply to all Hondas...

I autocross my automatic Accord quite frequently, so I'm trying to make sure that my transmission is well taken care of. I've already installed the biggest B&M SuperCooler (bypass feature prevents overcooling), but I have yet to change the ATF.

The car has about 10,000 miles on it over 1.5 years, and the fluid is still in good condition, neither is there any precipitate, or any sulfur smell (started autocrossing last September, been to 6 autocrosses).

Should I drain+refill my ATF every other oil change? (~1 yr for me).

Is there anything else I can do to help protect my AT?

Are there any better Honda Z1 "approved" ATFs out there that are safe to use in my AT? What about Amsoil synthetic? (expensive!)

IIRC, Redline makes ATF. Given any thought to getting your torque converter reworked? http://www.levelten.com .

I know that older hondas were dexron II. Don't know about the newer ones.

actually some people have had trouble with their transmissions slipping with Redline ATF. We need Honda Z1 compatible/aprroved ATF (at leadst for my 6th gen Accord).

as for the torque converter, I'd rather not spend that kind of money on my auto. I'd rather do an auto->manual conversion

really... learn somethin' new everyday I would think that the oem fluid would be fine. Just change it every 9-12 months. I believe that recommended intervals is 30k miles.

yes recommended intervals are 30K but if you want to be on the safe side just replace it when you feel like it. trust me autoamtic's are expensive, i just bought one to replace mine. luckily i got a good deal for 100 cause he just wanted it gone.
red line regular atf probably isn't goin to slip. if you get the race atf it might slip as it is not meant by the manufactur for any street use. only heavy duty race use. like in a domestic where they manually shift theirs. i'm about to run mobil 1 fluid and it's about the same price as red line street atf. if you eventually have some problems or bad shifting you might have to check your toque converter fluid. you use 6-7 quarts of regular atf. though you do have to pull the tranny to do that.

yeah, half of the fluid is still in the TC when you drain the ATF. The best way to fully change the fluid in the AT is to drain+refill 3 times, whilst driving a short distance in between (what my owner's manual says )

I think I'm going to stick with the Honda ATF-Z1 for now...
