any possible way a clogged cat can cause blow by?
I would very much doubt that it could. a blocked cat would cause a lot of exhaust backpressure, but it should just go up the intake tract when the valve opens and cause the motor to run like **** because its not getting any fresh air and fuel only spent exhast gasses. it should't make the rings flutter from backpressuse, but depening on the amount and if your on boost,no Istill dont think so.You probly need rings.
A common cause for a clogged cat is oil use because of bad ring seal. In other words, there is usually blowby before the cat gets clogged up.
Thanx for the replies. so when I replace the cat and header on MOnday and if it continues to do it I can tell my friend to put new rings in my car since he messed em up the first time.
