Default All Motor vs Turbo

alright guys i need some pro's and cons for both setups. What i want to do is have a setup (allmotor or turbo) that does 11s - low twelves daily driven. I need to know the consequences of both setups if i drive them daily(eg. running high octane fuel, oil leaks, etc). Your input is much appreciated.

well u could either build a NA motor and spend alot of money on that, Then blow it up. Or u could go turbo, spend all ur money on the turbo and blow up a stock motor.
Which would u rather blow up???? I would rather blow up a stock one than a fully built one. Dont tell me yadayada im not gonna blow up anything, yes you will, i said the same thing when i went NA, then it blew up and i learned my lesson.
U can throw a turbo kit on a stock ls motor and run 12's all day at like 10psi.

Your response only applies to people that spend 3-4k. What if they fully build the turbo motor and it blows?

To run low 12's or high 11's all motor on a street car is hard and you need hella money. With a turbo you can do it but you still need money. Get your motor to have about 180hp to the wheels all motor and put a 75-100 shot of nos on it, and that might get you there and plus people will thing your all motor (maybe)

You take a lite *** crx, get a ls swap and make your own turbo kit. I am not to fond of all motor street hondas, It just takes to much money. I ran 14.5 with my stock ls, hope fully 12s now with my turbo setup at 9psi. I have less than 3k in my swap and turbo kit and should run 12s on street tires (radials) I would like to see that done all motor unless you buy a hot gsr and use slicks.

Well, thanks for the replies guys. currently in my EG is a fully built b16a w/t3|to4e. But i bought a blown turbo and my clutch went out on me and to top it all off i got all these dam leaks i gotta worry about. Frankly, im just frustrated with all the maintanence of a turbo car. I was thinking of going b20 built w/NOS. I think that would be good for street and strip, since i drive it everywhere in socal.

i have a fast all na motor ive never really had any troubles blowing it or anything like that. I have broken a tensioner and bent some valves, but thats not so bad. I love na but a good setup on a gsr (turbo) or type r is so ******* fun. Theres this guy out in VA drealboostedhybrid pm him ive seen his setups there outstanding, he ran 11.2 in a street car with stock block just head gasket and vafc, full exhaust and stock suspension. I was talking to him at MIR he s a chill dude. but for real a all motor h22a is really a fun ride in a civic

i believe in all motor. turbo is high maintenance and you will blow a turbo if its on a stock motor. everything needs maintenance. but na i think would be more reliable than turbo. turbo is forcing **** into the engine whereas NA is breathing all or mother nature in. just my thoughts and $.02. NA not as fast as turbo though, but the numbers are good. all motor can hit 11 seconds, but not as fast as turbo would. too hard to hit 11's in a NA motor.

this is tru in some cercumstances...it all depends on the motor. one never knows how it'll hold up to boost and the tolerences it must endure. i have seen stock turbo motors blow up on the first run with kits that say they are safe and will work...and then again i have seen them last 30k with the same kit...like i said its all on the motor and the tuning. personally i would go n/a if you are running 11s-12s na thats very respectable and a good achievement while if u go turbo many people can do that with about 5 grand. i say na

It's necessarily goin to blow up but a stock motor isn't made for boost... To have a reliable setup atleast go with some low compression forged slugs and some rods... Tuning is still going to be everything but my friend's stock sleeved GSR turbo motor puts down 355whp on 13lbs. and runs an 11.9@119 in his daily driven full interior EK, it's running a RevHard Stage 2C T3/T04E hybrid... If you really wanna make power with a turbo motor then sleeve it... My other friend has the same setup except bored up a little more running GE Godzilla sleeves.. On 22lbs. it made 505whp.. It was in his EK when he was running small MT 22x8x15 slicks on ITR wheels and he still ran an 11.8, that's really shitty for 505whp (straight T04)but those slicks were too small.. He has the same Bogart Pro 4's with MT 24.5x9x13 but he couldn't mount them on the ITR 5 lug... That setup is going in an EG soon so we'll see what it can do... One of my other friend's has his new motor that's ready to be dropped into his EK once he gets it... It's also a sleeved but o-ringed and once broken in he's got his T04X^2 turbo ready to go on it... It's going to be daily driven and hopefully make 700+whp on squeeze too... My main point was if you are gonna boost atleast get some pistons and rods... You'll notice a lot more if you sleeve it tho cuz i wouldn't go anymore than 14lbs. and stock overbored sleeves... Peace and Good Luck

the price it would cost to run 11s RELIABLY all motor you could biuld 2 or 3 custom turbo setups to run the same. My friend has an all motor race car runs 11.5s and I will tell you its not cheap to run those kind of times espicailly in a street car. If you want to go fast cheap go turbo, turbos might need a little more tlc but its worth it, its also only 300 to rebiuld a turbo completly with what ever internal parts you want. Stock motor are dirt *** cheap at salvage yards too.

If you want to run 11's, go get yourself a DSM w/AWD and turbo..

it wont cost as much to make it run that fast..

well this is honda-tech for a reason, if he wanted a dsm he would be on dsmclub.com
Thanks for reminding me, I had no clue.

And if you guys want to make what I said sound so stupid, maybe you should read the thread title again.. This is perhaps one of the GAYEST threads. Why discuss something like this?
