Default adjusting stock cam gears?

i don't know if this is possible, but i'm in the middle of doing my timing belt change. well i was thinking since cam gears could be adjusted with aftermarket ones, i was wondering if stock ones could be advanced or retarded upon timing belt removal. i know you have to set the timing marks before removal, but could it be adjusted let's say 1 tooth advanced on the intake cam according to the cam marks and leave the exhaust cam alone?

Welcome to Honda-Tech.

The stock cam gears are not adjustable, in fact the only way to adjust them is to jump a tooth which would not be recommended at all.

ok so i'm kinda confused how cam gears work, i noticed on aftermarket ones like AEM or UR whatever, they show 10...0...10 marks. so let's say i want to advance +4 on the intake cam which is about half a tooth clockwise according to the AEM intake cam, can't you do the samething with the stock cam but adjusting and keep the exhaust cam and crank marks like factory. THEN, place the tensioner and all the other stuff to complete the timing belt procedure?

no, this would not work because when stock cam gear is advanced a tooth, this is quite a bit more timing advancement than 10 degrees and would cause driveability issues and most likely detonation. Not good

I would suggest the same as everyone else= get adjustable cam gears

Sometimes trying to reinvent the wheel just leads to more headaches, so to speak.

this idea is not stupidity, i'm only asking 'cause there's people out there that have tried this and they got 5hp gains advancing stock cam gears. and i'm not saying also to adjust like 2-3 teeth or so, i'm only saying just a tad, not even passed 1 tooth, maybe just a little than half a tooth. maybe it's not a big deal, i already know that having +2-4 intake cam advancement gives gains no doubt about it. so i'm just asking people that have tried this. i don't care about of this being a stupid idea or not, or ignorant answers. just people with experience that's all.

Do you have plots to show those 5hp gains? I doubt it, and +2, -4 always has gains huh... That's strange, we've never seen that on our dyno... Also how exactly are you going to advance or retard your OE cam sprockets half a tooth?
