AC Compressor Problem
my ac was working perfectly fine recently. just got it serviced a few months ago. I had to get a smog check and the guy would run it during smog so it wouldnt pass so i unplugged the red wire that goes to the compressor. when i went to reinstall it and turn the ac on, it was making a cluddering noise (cccclllldddddddddddddddddd) when i went to go spin the pully with my hand with the car off, the end part, it was really hard to turn freely, usually it turns easily. When the compressor is off, it doesnt make any noise, but when it turns on, it does
what do you think is the problem (i mean its the compressor but how do i fix it, do i need to take it off and fix it or just replace it?- i dont feel like servicing it becuz its around 80-100 but i had another compressor but that one makes squeeky noises)

The outside edge of the pump pulley is the clutch, and it is attached to the A/C pump, and should take a little effort to turn. the pulley ribs in which the belt lies should turn freely.
If it feels rough or grindy, the A/C pump bearing is bad, and will require the clutch to come off to replace it. There is two bearings in there, the pump bearing i just mentioned, and the idler bearing, which the belt rides on when the A/C is off.
Does the A/C still work just as well as it did before?

well i got down to fixing the ac and decided to just replace the compressor, the old one started to smoke and smell burnt. I took apart the old compressor and it was trashed and a mess and completely destroyed. The bearings was the problem. Thanks
