Is the "air leaking sound" coming from the intake manifold,[listen at T/B] or from the exhaust manifold, listen at muffler outlet????

Sounds like a valve is not seating properly, cylinder(s) on compression stroke has valve that is leaking, [not seated], intake valve if sound is from intake manifold, exhaust valve if sound is from muffler.

A compression and leak down check should be done, have you checked valve clearance?
How is the mechanical timing, the GSR engine is an interference engine, can engine be rotated past half a turn by hand, are valves running into pistons, a bent valve will not seat properly, insure cam/valve timing is correct.94
