Default 3 d16 eagle rods and 1 other brand

so i got a really cheap deal for 3 eagle rods with 3 vitaras, the forth rods was trashed by poor install. not be me. paid 80 thats including a lite weight flywheel. they flywheel alone is worth that much so its like i got the rods and pistons for free.

so i found one guy selling 3 good rods and one that was spun and claimed to be eagles, i ask if he'd sell just one rod.

he asked for 100 shipped for one rod with bolts and piston

so i paid, got it today. well its not the same.

the rod bolts are smaller but are arp. m bolts are arp 2000, the ones i got are arp 8740
the small end is wider
but are the same length and every thing

would i be okay using the one thats different i dont plan on revving past 8k and hp to not exceed 300. hoping for more around 250 whp

i also dont plan on running the vitaras so i plan on selling them to recoup some $$ but have new bushing pressed in to the small end and use oem z6 pistons. more compression less psi same hp. hit my goal with less psi. also plan on having them balance weight wise if they are not the same weight already

weight on the rods shouldnt be that big of a difference. according to ********** the weights are

Speed-O-Motive Pro I-beam, 9mm ARP8740: 498 grams i have h beams so the probably weigh more
Eagle ESP H-beam, 3/8" ARP2000 : 530 grams

so what do you think. will i be okay? any help would be greatly appreciated.

thank you

the biggest problem i see is the weight difference...I beam rods are lighter than the H beam so balancing that engine is gonna be impossible..at 180 for the rods u coulds have spent 100 more and gotten a set of brand new rods..or the FJ rods and vitaras..

you should have just bought brand new rods, then you wouldnt have to deal with this.

Problem is, the motor that spun a bearing sucked a bunch of metal shavings through it, which easily could have damaged the journals/bushings on the other 3 rods. I wouldnt trust that crap in a motor im building. Cut your losses and buy new parts...

there is no damage on the 3 rods i first bought. and if there were damage on the small ends it wouldnt matter too much as im getting tighter bushing pressed in to oem honda pistons

and if you read the first post again, i bought the first 3 rods with pistons AND A LITE WEIGHT FLYWHEEL for 80 bucks. you could think of it as i got the rods and pistons for free or the other way around.

but thanks for your input. yeah i knew i should of bought new rods but for 80 bucks spent and what i received would you have passed on that?

personally i would have passed them up, but thats just me. If your gonna take the time and build a motor, you shouldnt buy internal parts you dont know the backround of.

well i guess ur right didnt think to much when i ask the guy for the first 3 rods and flywheel any ?? about the history, o well i guess the 80 spent there i could just say was for the flywheel. and take a lost on the 4th rod i bought, but at least i can still sell the rods and pistons to make my money back

thanks again
