Straight to the point, will this stock bodied Civic HX run 10? Will it also beat a 01 WS6 TransAm with Cold air and exhaust by 9 CARLENGTHS to 110MPH?

I am not a Honda expert, but I say. HELL NO. This is the 1.6 Non VTEC motor.

Here's the mods:

14.7:1 compression, crower connecting rods, crower valves, crower valve springs, crower titaniam retainers, cam, ported, polished, blueprinted,shaved the head, hi-flow 460cc injectors, venom intake manifold, hi- flow fuel rail, venom 400 module, jet programmed computer, dc header 4-1, exhaust, fuel flow regulator, iceman cold air intake, full 3" exhaust is on the way


As it appears you guys know exactly what you're talkin about in this field, I leave it in your capable hands to confirm my suspicions. LOL!

No. He probably doesn't have most of those mods. Have you seen the car?
For one thing, he can't run that compression on pump gas.
I have never heard of 460cc injectors. (they may exist, I don't know)
It would take about 450whp for him to run 10's. Even what he has is true, he wouldn't be anywhere near that ballpark.

LOL!!! damn, he really thinks he's gonna run 10's with 17s and a heavy 97 hatch? highly doubtful. he'll be lucky to hit 16s! he'd have to have a totally and i mean TOTALLY stripped car, motor stroked to 2.0 FULLY built and other stuff and still hope to hit 13s! all i can say is GOOD LUCK...hahahaha

it does not have 14.7:1 compression pistons. racegas may still detonate at 14.7:1.

and hatch vs. coupe does matter. big weight diffrence.

Right, my friend has a 97 HX coupe with a GSR T3/T04E turbo in it boostin 12psi on 9.0:1 JE pistons. It's running Hondata and 24.5x9x13 MT slicks. His best at the NHRA event last weekend in Woodburn, Oregon was a 12.2@119 I'm pretty sure his car can generate a little more power then the all motor HX. Then my other friend has a LSVTEC bored to 85mm with 15.0:1 pistons and a Portflow head in a 95 hatch race car that weighed in at 1790lbs, his best was 11.4@116 but it spun a bearing so it's time for a new motor. Have fun running 10's all motor in a HX coupe.

 

I'm no expert but there's no way an HX civic can run 10s. Why, you ask? Because I own one!!! As far as parts go, nobody makes jack for the HX. I'm not sure what parts are interchangeable as far as the engine goes, but I had to mod my exhaust to make it fit on my car.

There's no way especially considering it's NA. The engine is VTEC but it's VTEC-E (or type 2). I've had the car for 5 years and I still don't know the difference between VTEC and VTEC-E other than the "E" is supposed to stand for "economy". This should give you an idea of what the HX is (or isn't) capable of.

Damn, it sounded like a really serious setup until he mentioned the DC header. That header chokes motors making 180hp. What the heck does he think it'll do for a car making enough power to run 10's?

It takes quite a bit to run 10's allmotor. For instance, Jeremy Lookofsky's 10 second car has an H22A (2.2 liter DOHC VTEC) that has been bored and stroked to 2.6 liters and probably every modification you can think of. And this is in a full race car. This guy will NEVER run 10's with this car!

sohc? ask jay yuson from allmotorsports why he failed to hit 10 seconds or any of the gude guys...in a gutted, acid-dipped, seam-welded crx, with lexan windows and such, you mite have a prayer of hitting 10's with a carb'd 15:1 sohc monster...all of which is a galaxy away (in a world near the planet reality) from what the star-gazer that started this thread is referring to...

I'd like to see 15.1 compression ratio stay in a stock honda block for 10 seconds. I'd assume that it's stock since he didn't mention any sleves or block guards in his Wish list of mods.

i want what hes on...
