.040 Over Pistons
Some of you are aware that I'm having my motor rebuilt for SCCA's Street Prepared (for those that don't... now you do). Anyways, we've been discussing new pistons for the car and came across a small snag. There are options available I just wanna make sure we didn't miss anything.
Most aftermarket pistons for a 40 over rebuild are 250-280 grams. Stock pistons are 305 grams. This means all those pistons are illeagle to use under SP rules. There are "common" replacement pistons but these are of unknown quality. Of course there are custom built pistons as well. Am I missing anything?
Short version : I'm looking for an OEM style aftermarket piston that MUST weigh 305 grams or more for a 40 over bore. Racing class rules prevent going lighter.
