"Dustless" brake pads?
Does anyone make a good dustless brake pad for the 'cord? As I wheeze to an uncertain stop, the car is practically enveloped in a dust cloud ... a la "Pigpen".
I had EBCs and think they sucked badly. They wore badly and made too much noise when I wasn't even stepping on the pedal.
Porterfield R4S are much nicer.
Neither is "dustless." However, no dust = no braking ability.
AEM Nissin ceramic are the best compromise between performance, dust, noise, and price from my research.
I care about noise and performance. EBC only had the latter.

I have the AEM's and im satisfied with them. I got mine from http://www.inlinefour.com
Porterfield are sold by Porterfield. Not cheap either. They sell Hawk too.

I'd say that AEM Nissin would be the best choice, then Hawk, if you are only caring about moderate increase in performance/price.
Try a Google search for them.

yup, AEM's dust is hard to get off of alloys. They do have a good bite tho

Just wax your wheels when they are clean. Take them off and get the front and back super clean then wax them. It makes getting brake dust off MUCH easier.
Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a "dustless" brake pad. If anyone is selling pads that they claim are "dustless" or "dust-free"...then they are being dishonest, period.
The reason is that brake pads MUST wear to some extend in order to produce braking torque. The saying among brake friction compound experts is that "a pad that isn't wearing (and therefore, dusting...) is not working".
Working from the OEM Honda pads as a standard for dust levels, Carbotech Engineering offers the Axxis Ultimate (not the Metal Master) compound for a wide variety of Honda/Acura vehicles. The Axxis Ultimate compound in most cases produces no more dust than the OEM Honda compounds, but provide far greater stopping power and fade resistance - perfect for aggressive street, drag, and auto-x use. Prices for most models are listed on our website at http://www.carbotecheng.com - Honda-Tech.com members will receive a 10% discount on Axxis Ultimate pads until the end of March 2002.

good point. Ive heard people using Pledge to keep brake dust off of alloys. Do you think pledge is good for a week or so..? Whats the best stuff out there? (slick surface without ruining the alloy look with the wax residue)
