Default Strut bushing defect

I replaced my struts, and used aftermarket (cheap) rubbers for the top (under piston nut), and it seems to be not tall enough. They are kind of floating by an inch. Since, the rubbers have deteriorated quickly, and i was going to buy new bushings (heard they are thicker, solving my problem)

Do i have to remove the struts all over again just to replace the top rubber bushing? (accessible on the top)
